Hello!! As I forewarned, things with school have gotten quite screwy and at the end of the day, I usually want to kick off my shoes, eat sweets, study (rarely a desirable thing...), take a bath, knit, see my boyfriend, etc. But last weekend was a mess of fabulous styles, it was Betsy's last weekend here! I miss her and her cherubic son with all my heart. I was so glad that she visited, me and Lila have had great times with her and O! I am finally, a week later about to post the fun!! Friday night she and her husband ( who flew out for a few days, it was marvelous to see him, he even offered some style advice! He has a Metro streak, you see!) went to Betsy's High School reunion. She wore such a chic Nicole Miller dress, in the words of Rachel Zoe (admit it, Bravo's programing is making you
quite the fashionista...) "I DIE!" Betsy has allowed me to post it! Just so you know, she is devastatingly beautiful with a terrific figure, and she just had a baby, like seven months ago!! Well anyways, she and her husband stayed at this chic new boutique hotel in an old factory by the river. They have a sort of deck with these pod-like wicker seats with pillows. I was sitting in one with Lila, but they ignored us (probably because they couldn't see us and they haven't ironed out the kinks yet...). That was a little disappointing. I wanted a Strawberry Mojito and Lila wanted some wine! Then on Sunday, Lila and I were going to the Legally Blonde the Musical premerie at night, but first, I met up with Betsy, O, and Charlie for a stylish brunch at the hotel. Betsy and I went shopping around in the area, and at SYMS we found the MOST DREAMY BETSY JOHNSON dress EVER!!! She bought it for me as an early graduation present (I am a broke part-timer), I'll wear it again for my 22nd birthday/ grad. party hopefully at this kick-ass hotel...I wore it to the premier that night. It was the most dressed-up there! (this ain't broadway!) and OMIGOD OMIGOD you GUYS the musical was so good!! Lila always takes me to fantastic plays, its our sister thing. So thank you, lovely older sisters, for SPOILING me ROTTEN this past weekend!!!
My fall look last Friday for school and hanging out at the hotel to see Betsy off:
Charlie (my bro-in law) advised me AGAINST the cropped(faux) fur jacket because it mad it too boxy. I came to agree with him and didn't wear it out that night. What do you think?
Dress: Vintage
Tights: DKNY
Faux Fur: from Betsy
Shoes: F21
Glasses: Random (I always wear them, I need some new ones desperately, they are cheap and scratched!!)
Bag: Marshall's
Earrings: Vintage
The dress is vintage from a local shop. Betsy bought it for me to wear on my 19th or 2oth birthday...Here are some pictures from that day, way back when (I had scene hair :( )
I wore it with gold sparkly tights and a vintage (real, it was Moma's) fur stole. I spiked my hair and wore a gold scarf on my head.THIS was a mistake...
NEVER AGAIN WITH THE HAIR!!!!
Anyways, Betsy's Dress and the Hotel:
Nicole Miller, Spring 2008 Ready to Wear (I think B. looked better, it suits her coloring!!)
Betsy!!! She is so cute!! I love the tailoring, making the dress fitted, with interesting pucker details!!! Here are the Steve Madden shoes she wore:
I think they are perfect for the dress! I of course, want the cream...
The hotel:
in their room
the lobby, tricked out with those sweet swinging mod chairs!!
Me on those wicker pod bed things on the deck, waiting for the drink that would never come. I am wearing this sweet sweater by Dex that has a hood and vintage-y silver buttons. Charlie had made me self-conscious about the fur thing.
the cool river/factory thing the deck overlooks. They have heaters!
